Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Company, London
This firm has a long history beginning before 1814 when its ancestor
was established by Benjamin Crosby. William Simpkin and Richard
Marshall were Crosby's assistants. Upon Crosby's illness in 1814,
Simpkin and Marshall was established. At one point in the
mid-nineteenth century the firm of Simpkin, Marshall and Co. was
England's largest book wholesaler. In about 1890-1891 the firm expanded
and became Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Company.
Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Company published one Jacob Abbott volume.
