Abbotts' Addition Columns, Saxton and Miles, New York, 1846
This little pamphlet of 26 pages teaches the correct methodology of
adding columns of numbers. This topic is also part of Abbott's Mount
Vernon Arithmetic, Part 1-Elementary which also was published by Saxton
and Miles in 1846. The latter book taught more than just "column
addition" however.
It is penned by Jacob and his brother Charles Abbott.
This book was copyrighted in 1846. The book shown below has a
title page dated 1847 but on the cover 1846 is noted. It is unclear at
this time whether there is an edition of this book with an 1846 title
page. There is no evidence that any other publishers beside Saxton and
Miles printed this book. The book is 7.5 x 4.5.
