The F. M. Lupton Publishing Company was one of a myriad of
houses that published reprints of older works in a multitude of series.
These series were distinguished generally by nice decorative bindings.
In 1902 Frank Lupton declared that there was confusion because there
were two companies using the same name. One was the F. M. Lupton
Publishing Company and the other was F. M. Lupton, publisher. The F. M.
Lupton Publishing Company became the Federal Book Company whereas F. M.
Lupton, publisher stayed in business to mainly publish magazines and
periodicals. The Federal Book Company published some of the series of
its Lupton predecessor.
Here are the six Lupton series that included some of the Abbott
biographies. Note that Josephine and Marie Antoinette were actually
written by John S. C. Abbott not Jacob Abbott.
